Description
23 and 25 Hencotes are late 18th century to early 19th century buildings that stand three storeys tall and feature three windows. The front is made of painted brick with stone heads and cills. The windows are glazing bar sash windows, with blanks in the centre. There is a 19th century doorcase with an open pediment, leading to a six-panel door with flush panels and a rectangular light above it. To the left, there is a side door that provides access to a through passage. The rear is constructed of rubble, with a gabled extension on the left side. A medieval corbel head, possibly from the Abbey, is incorporated into the stonework.
These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 43 (odd) Hencotes, along with Temperley Place (Nos 1 to 5) and surrounding walls, with additional local interest from Nos 7 to 13, 13A and 13B, 19, 21, 31, 33, and 41 Hencotes.
