Description
Gates and gate piers located approximately 150 yards north-west of Pallinsburn date from the early 18th century, although they may have been re-set, with the finials possibly being Victorian and the gates from the 19th century. Constructed from sandstone and wrought iron, the small square piers sit on plain square plinths. The north side features shell niches, while the south side displays half figures emerging from scrolls. There are no cornices present. At the top of the piers are male and female Janus-headed busts. The stone appears old and worn, but the style of dress suggests a 19th-century origin. The double gates are adorned with elaborate Rococo-style scrolls.
