Description
This listing describes a group of three tombs made of sandstone, located approximately 5 yards south of the Church of St. Mary in Stamfordham.
The first tomb belongs to Boswell and dates from 1745. It is a table tomb supported by panelled baluster legs, which are intricately carved with foliage. The top features a moulded edge and displays a coat of arms.
The second tomb is a headstone for William Dinnin, dated 1801. It has a scrolled pedimented top and a sunk panel that is carved with two angels holding a book.
The third tomb is also a headstone, with an inscription that is worn and dates from 1746. It has a segmental top and scrolled sides, and is carved with an angel.
