Description
Church House, located at No 30 on the south side of Stamfordham, is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of dressed stone and topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and features five windows. The central entrance consists of a panelled door with a patterned overlight, set within a 19th-century wooden porch. There is one 12-pane sash window on each side of the door, in narrow early 18th-century openings. On the first floor, there are two-pane sash windows in similar original openings. The roof is steeply pitched with 18th-century kneelers and banded end stacks.
Inside, the house contains several two-panel doors, old beams, and impressive early 18th-century roof timbers, with principal-rafter trusses that die into the wall face. The kitchen features a 19th-century window with vertical glazing bars.
