Description

Oakwood Hall is a house with a history of at least three building phases, dating to the early 18th century, with substantial additions in the late 18th century and later 19th century. The house is rendered with ashlar detailing and has a roof covered in Welsh and Scottish slate. It is two storeys tall with attics. The front of the house comprises a late Georgian four-bay section on the right and a later two-bay section to the left. Behind and to the right of the front block is an earlier section composed of a double-span block with a cross wing.

The late Georgian section features rusticated quoins and twelve-pane windows set within flat raised surrounds. Similar quoins and surrounds are found on the later section to the left, which has a doorway with a French window in the left bay and a canted bay window to the right. The earlier block incorporates a shallow stone porch with a segmental open pediment and twelve-pane sashes on the first floor and right return. The rear of the house has a doorway with a patterned overlight, set within a flat raised surround with a triple keystone. The roof is gabled and has numerous stone corniced chimney stacks.
