Description

The farmbuilding group at East Brizlee, dating from the mid-19th century, consists of a foldyard with attached walls. The buildings are constructed from tooled and margined stone, featuring Welsh slate roofs and squared stone walls, arranged around a yard that opens to the south.

The north range is two storeys high and consists of two, four, and two bays. It has a chamfered plinth and an open elliptical arcade with raised keystones and stop-chamfered jambs. The taller central section includes slatted loft windows with slightly projecting sills and pedimented gable ends that enclose circular eyes. The side ranges are each one storey and consist of two, three, and one bays, with a taller central part that has a pair of blind slits, boarded and stable doors, and some blind doorways. There are also inserted cart entrances with timber lintels in single bays adjacent to the north range, and the roofs are hipped to the south.

At the south end of each side range, there is a keyed elliptical arch flanked by loops, which encloses a narrow boarded door between small windows. The rear elevation of the north range features boarded double doors, a stone stair leading to a boarded loft door, and slatted loft windows. The rear elevation of the east range has a central section with a projecting centre bay that includes a keyed elliptical arch on imposts, enclosing a narrow boarded door between small windows, under an open-pedimented gable with a circular eye. The end sections each have a central pair of keyed elliptical arches flanked by doorways, all of which are blind.
