Description
The ice house, located 20 metres east of the south end of Stone Bridge, is likely from the late 18th century. It is constructed of squared stone with a brick-faced interior and has a circular plan, built into the hillside. There is a band below the conical cap, which supports a later terracotta fluted bowl held up by dolphin supporters. A square-headed door leads into a segmental-vaulted antechamber, and there is a segmental arch that opens into the freezing chamber, which was bricked up at the time of the survey.
