Description

This is a pant, or water trough, located approximately 40 yards south of The Arcade in Belsay. It dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed from rock-faced stone, which is intentionally left in large, rough blocks. The pant stands about 4 feet high and measures around 3 feet square at the base. It features a chamfered offset and has tapering sides that lead up to a roughly pyramidal cap. On the north side, there is a trefoiled recess.
