Description

The gallery, located 90 metres east of the stables at Cresswell Hall, was built around 1824 by John Shaw. It is constructed from ashlar stone and has a quadrant plan. The structure features a 16-column arcade that connects two open square end pavilions, designed in the Roman Doric Order with paired square piers. The deep eaves soffit is supported by paired double brackets, and there are parapets with lattice balustrading above the end pavilions. The rear wall, which previously had a series of niches for plants, has mostly collapsed. This gallery serves as a flanking approach to the former Cresswell Hall.
