Description
The Old School House, dated 1838 above the doorway, was originally the schoolmistress' house. It is constructed from tooled squared stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The main section is a single storey with three bays. It has three-light mullioned windows set in double-chamfered surrounds, except for the 20th-century double doors located in the third bay. The building has coped gables with moulded kneelers and a stepped, corniced ridge stack with conjoined shafts. To the left, there is a one-storey, one-bay link that was the former school entrance to Fenham House. The central boarded door is situated under a chamfered four-centred arch and is flanked by two-light mullioned windows, with the right window featuring latticed glazing. The building is topped with a moulded parapet.
