Description
Church Cottages are a pair of former estate workers' cottages built around 1838. They are constructed from squared tooled stone with ashlar dressings and have slate roofs. The cottages are single-storey and consist of four bays. They feature a chamfered plinth and eaves course, and the windows are casement style, with latticed windows in number 2, all set in double-chamfered surrounds.
At the center, there is a shaped gablet with moulded kneelers and coping, which displays the Cresswell arms featuring a squirrel rampant. The gables are coped and also have moulded kneelers. There are two stepped and corniced ashlar ridge stacks with conjoined shafts. Each cottage has a flanking set-back porch with boarded doors, which are set in chamfered four-centred arches, and these porches also have moulded kneelers and coping.
