Description
The Bolland Memorial is a churchyard memorial located approximately 100 yards northwest of the Church of St. Mary in Morpeth. It was erected around 1860 to commemorate Rev. John Bolland, who died in Jerusalem in 1857. The memorial is made of sandstone and is designed in the Gothic style. It features a large pinnacle that stands about 33 feet high, resting on a base of four square steps. The memorial includes two tiers of gabled lucarnes, with the upper tier being elaborately decorated with crockets and angels positioned at the foot of each gable. At the top, there is a foliated-cross finial. A copper plate with an inscription is also part of the memorial.
