Description

This is an early to mid-18th century mansion, originally of three storeys and six windows. The building is constructed of painted ashlar with rustic quoins, though the left side is partially obscured by the projecting end bay of the Nag's Head public house. It has a slightly tented double-pitched slate roof and three brick chimneys. The windows are sash windows, six with glazing bars and six with plate glass, all with moulded architraves. Number 15 features two late 19th-century three-light oriels on the first floor. The ground floor has three modern shop fronts, and a blocked moulded window between numbers 17 and 19. A round-headed stair window is located at the rear. A side door to number 19, known as Stonewell House, has a partly moulded frame and a stone gabled hood above. Behind the main building is an outbuilding called Stonewell Hall.
