Description

The Old Farmhouse is an early 18th-century house which was extended and heightened in the mid-18th century. The original section has a brick front built in English Garden Wall bond, while the end and rear walls are of rubble. The east extension is of rubble with a brick first floor. The roof is covered in pantiles.

The house is two storeys high and has a three-bay facade to the left and a two-bay facade to the right. The left part of the house is original, as indicated by the stone quoins. It features a central flush-panelled door, with the window opening above it now blocked. Most of the original carpentry has been lost, but one 16-pane sash window remains on the first floor to the right. The right part of the house has boarded doors on the ground and upper floors, and an eight-pane Yorkshire sash window with a soldier lintel on the first floor. The left gable has stepped brick coping and an old chimney stack.

Inside, the house contains old ceiling beams, a roof with collar-beam trusses, two levels of purlins, and a light ridge.
