Description
Steward's House is a mid-18th century house with 19th century additions, located on the east side of The Green in Simonburn. The building features squared rubble that is pebble-dashed and painted on the front and returns, topped with a Welsh slate roof and ashlar chimneys. It is a two-storey structure with a five-bay main block. The central door has been replaced and is set within an architrave that includes a pulvinated frieze and cornice. The windows are 12-pane sashes with raised flat-faced surrounds. The roof has coped gables and shaped kneelers, and there are end stacks with chamfered top bands. To the right, there is a lower two-storey, three-bay added wing that has replaced casements in similar surrounds and a low-pitched roof with a coped right gable. At the rear, there is an added single-storey outshut and a two-storey gabled wing.
