Description
The Seaton Carew War Memorial is located at the northern end of The Green, overlooking The Cliff and the sea to the east, surrounded by several other Grade II-listed buildings. This sandstone memorial stands approximately 4 meters tall and features a cross that rises from a square pedestal, which is set on a two-stepped base. The head of the cross is a Maltese cross, with a wreath carved in relief at the center of the cross arms on both the front and rear sides.
The pedestal has a cornice decorated with a Greek key design. Each face of the pedestal is adorned with Westmoreland Slate panels that display the dedication and names, with the front panel reading: "TO OUR GLORIOUS DEAD 1914-1918 1939-1945 SEATON CAREW." Dwarf pillars are positioned at the corners of the lower step of the base.
