Description
This is an ornamental water pump located approximately 14 meters southwest of number 101 High Street in Hartlepool. It dates from the mid to late 19th century and is made of cast iron. The pump features a hollow octagonal shaft that stands on an ogee moulded plinth and a concrete step. It has a simple moulded cornice, a pierced ornamental dome, and a ball finial. The sides of the shaft are decorated with pierced guilloche and Tudor flower ornamentation. The original water pump that was housed within the casing has been removed.
