Description
The lion sculpture, dating from around 1852, is made of painted stone and stands on a mid-20th century brick pier. It is located 15 meters to the east of the Lion Brewery in Hartlepool. This sculpture is likely the only remaining part of the original Lion Brewery established by W. Waldon. There are other similar sculptures to the north and south, but they are of later date and not considered of interest.
