Description
This is a pair of substantial, mid-19th century terraced houses located on Stanhope Road, constructed with an ashlar facade and exhibiting a classical style with gothic details. Each house is two storeys high with an attic, and has three windows. The roofs are slate-covered mansards with three pedimented stone dormers. The first-floor windows are set within architraves featuring a swell frieze and cornice. Number 67 has stone mullions and transoms within its first-floor windows. Ground-floor windows share a similar treatment, framing canted bays that flank a prostyle Ionic porch, which supports a projecting, full-width cast iron balcony. A corbel table is present at the eaves, and tall stone chimneys are located at each end of the building.
