Description

These are a pair of houses, numbers 89 and 91 New North Road, built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed of hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings, and have a pitched slate roof. The houses are two storeys and have attics. They exhibit a symmetrical design, with gabled attic dormers projecting from the outer bays. The first floor windows are paired round-arched sashes, sharing a common hoodmould. The ground floor features canted bays, each with segment-headed sashes, the voussoirs ornamented with nailhead detailing, and topped with parapets featuring quatrefoil decorations. The front doors have segment-headed fanlights, supported by half-columns with acanthus capitals, and are finished with a parapet also ornamented with quatrefoils.
