Description
The east and north garden walls located to the southeast of Number 7 are garden walls dating from the late 18th century and 19th century, with many later repairs and alterations. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and brick sections. The walls form an L-shape, linking a gazebo to a late 20th-century wing of Eldon House. The tall east wall, which is attached to the gazebo, extends north for 60 meters. The southern section is made of rubble, while the northern section features brick with stone coping: hand-made brick in English garden wall bond at the bottom, and larger 19th-century bricks in random bond above, along with 20th-century brick buttresses. The tall north wall runs west for 35 meters, primarily made of hand-made brick in random bond, with regularly spaced buttresses and a lower rubble section at the west. These walls are included for their group value.
