Description
Mill Bridge is a Grade II listed structure built in 1861, as indicated by a plaque on the west parapet, though it may have been a refacing of an earlier bridge. The bridge is constructed from squared rock-faced limestone, with both faces appearing similar. It spans 40 meters in length and features three widely spaced semicircular arches, each with projecting tooled-and-margined voussoirs. Small triangular-plan cutwaters are located between the arches. The bridge has a rising curved parapet, which is defined by a band at road level and topped with rounded coping. The dated plaque is situated in the center of the outer face of the west parapet. At each end, there are low square-plan piers capped with pyramidal tops. This bridge crosses the former mill pond and lies within the parishes of Coatham Mundeville and Brafferton.
