Description
West Lodge is an early 19th century villa situated well back from the road. It is two storeys high with five windows and features a slightly projecting pedimented three-bay center. The building is constructed of pinkish brick and has a stone plinth, a first-floor band, a cornice, and copings on the parapet and pediment. The replaced sash windows have stone lintels and cills. A stone prostyle porch, built in the early 20th century, is located at the front.
The side elevation displays a double pile design with two chimney breasts. The rear elevation consists of two storeys and a sunk basement, with three wide bays and a parapet. The right bay retains original sash windows with glazing bars, while a round-headed central landing window, featuring a keystone dated 1805, is present above a similar door arch. To the left, there is a two-storey canted bay that appears to be a later addition, although at least one window seems original.
The interior underwent comprehensive renovation in the early 20th century in a Jacobethan style, but some original woodwork and one fireplace have been preserved.
