Description
Manor Farmhouse and adjoining farmbuilding date to the early 17th century, with alterations and additions from the 19th century. The house is constructed of coursed limestone, while the farmhouse has rendered brick chimney stacks and a French-tiled roof, and the farmbuilding a pantiled roof. The main block of the house is a two-storey, five-bay structure. A slightly taller wing, now used for storage, extends at right angles to the right bay. A single-storey, three-bay farmbuilding is situated on the left return.
The garden front of the main block features mostly replaced casement windows, a steeply-pitched roof with raised verges and reverse-stepped gables, and two ridge stacks. The right-angled wing has a gabled, two-storey, two-bay design. A projecting two-storey bay on its left return features chamfered mullioned four-light windows with blocked return lights, all under dripmoulds. A 20th-century porch sits at the junction with the main block, and above it is a chamfered stone window surround. This wing also has a steeply-pitched roof with a raised verge and shaped kneelers, accompanied by a stone stairway on its right return. The adjacent farmbuilding has a doorway with a basket-arched brick head flanked by 20th-century casements, and a steeply-pitched roof with a raised verge and reverse-stepped gable on the left. The street front of the main block has a replaced door and overlight in a raised rendered surround, and replaced casements in scattered 19th-century openings, with a gabled half-dormer on the left.
The interior of a ground-floor room in the main block retains chamfered ceiling beams of heavy scantling, with run-out stops, and a similar cambered fire beam. A 20th-century lean-to addition on the left return of the farmbuilding is not considered to be of special interest. The farmbuilding is included for group value.
