Description

The site includes garden walls and a pair of gate piers dating to the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The north wall, approximately 2.5 to 3.0 metres high, extends west for about 95 metres. It has a buttressed outer face and has been partly rebuilt, with set-back upper courses and a brick coping. The wall is ramped on both sides of the north-west corner, indicating a previous garden building has been demolished. A pair of tall, square gate piers are located about 20 metres west of the east end of the north wall; these have corniced red sandstone caps and ball finials.

The west wall, also 3.0 metres high, runs south for approximately 35 metres and has a brick coping. A south wall, approximately 65 metres in length, consists of two sections. The western section, 3.0 metres high and built of red sandstone rubble, has stone coping and a central round-arched doorway with a brick head. The eastern section is a 2.0-metre high buttressed brick wall with stone coping.

The walls are included in the listing due to their group value. A later brick exedra located between the gate piers in the north wall is not considered to be of special interest.
