Description

This is an outbuilding, formerly used as stables and loose-boxes, now serving as storage. It dates from the mid-18th century and consists of two sections with later alterations. The building is constructed of narrow brick in an irregular English garden wall bond, topped with a renewed pantiled roof and featuring old brick chimney stacks. It is a tall single storey plus lofts structure, with a staggered straight joint near the centre.

The left section has six altered openings, including a central pair of replaced boarded doors, a blocked doorway, and a replaced door under a segmental head to the left. There is also a horizontal-sliding sash window under a rubbed-brick flat arch and a late 20th-century garage door to the right. This section has two gabled half-dormers with inserted 12-pane horizontal-sliding sashes.

The right section contains five altered openings, featuring a central partly-blocked doorway, a replaced door under a segmental head, and a partly-blocked 20th-century opening to the left. To the right, there is a replaced Dutch door and a late 20th-century casement window. A gabled half-dormer loading bay is located at the left.

Both sections are of the same height and have dentilled eaves. The building has a continuous steeply-pitched roof with swept eaves and a raised brick verge on the left. There is a ridge stack on the left section and a projecting external chimney breast on the rendered right return. The outbuilding is included for its group value with the adjacent properties, although the 20th-century house at No. 3 Coach Lane and the short wing on the centre rear are not of special interest.
