Description
This is a barn with an attached pigsty located 20 metres east of Selaby Home Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century. It is built from limewashed hammer-dressed sandstone, featuring a Welsh slate roof on the barn and a pantiled roof on the pigsty.
The barn is two storeys high and has three bays, characterized by large flush quoins and a low plinth. There is a 20th-century vehicle entrance in the left bay, along with two blocked windows that have alternating jambs to the right. Above these, there are three part-glazed hit-and-miss windows. The barn is topped with a low-pitched hipped roof.
The single-storey pigsty includes a henhouse above. Its gabled two-bay return has two round-headed openings set in raised surrounds with voussoirs. In front of the pigsty, there are two pig-yards bordered by a low wall with chamfered coping, along with 20th-century cast-iron railings and gates. The gable features a single rectangular opening, while the rear has an external stone staircase leading to a boarded door into the henhouse.
This building is included for its group value.
