Description

The Robinson tomb, located 2 metres west of the Church of St. Mary in Middleton in Teesdale, is a Grade II listed headstone dating from around 1757. It commemorates John Robinson, who died in 1683, his wife Grace, who died in 1722, their son William, who died in 1728, and their daughters Margaret, who died in 1757, and Grace. The tomb is made of sandstone ashlar and features a slab approximately one metre high with a gabled top. The east face has a top moulding above a well-cut inscription, while the west face displays two shaped panels above a wide rectangular panel.
