Description

Gates, piers, and walls located south of the former Methodist chapel in Middleton in Teesdale date from around 1872. They are constructed from coursed squared sandstone, ashlar, and cast iron. The low sandstone walls with ashlar coping flank central gates topped with fleur-de-lys, which are set between two pyramid-coped ashlar piers. There are two similar piers at both the left and right ends of the walls, along with an additional intermediate pier in each wall. This structure is included for its group value.
