Description
This is a barn located to the north of High Houghall farmhouse, likely dating from the early 17th century with some alterations. It is constructed from large rubble sandstone that is roughly coursed and squared, featuring larger quoins. The roof has been replaced with asbestos sheets. The barn runs north from the back of the hind's cottage and is a single storey with four bays. The east elevation, which faces the farmyard, includes a flat-Tudor-arched surround for a door on the right and a thin wood lintel for a door on the left. The west elevation has a widened vehicle entrance, two triangular ventilation holes, and one slit.
