Description
High Houghall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with some alterations. It is constructed from roughly-squared and coursed large rubble sandstone, featuring larger quoins. The roof has been renewed with Welsh slate and includes brick and stone chimneys. The building consists of two sections, with a cottage on the right side.
The farmhouse has one storey and an attic, with two wide bays, while the cottage has one storey and one bay. The house features wood lintels above a central doorway and flanking three-light windows, along with square-headed attic windows. There are end chimneys, with the right one being a massive stone chimney raised in brick. The cottage has a wood-lintelled door on the left and a square window on the right, along with a right end chimney.
Inside, the right room of the farmhouse contains a wide Tudor-arched fireplace with roll moulding. However, doors and windows have been removed, and the building was empty and derelict at the time of the survey.
