Description

The west boundary wall of Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle dates from around 1869. It is constructed of stone rubble and features a low gabled coping. The wall is approximately 2.5 meters high and curves along Birch Road, starting from the north end of the wall of the Catholic church. It then returns eastward at the junction with the Gateway to Dunelm Court and continues behind Nos 26 and 28. The wall further returns north behind Dunelm Court, Dunelm Square, and the grounds of Barnard Castle Fire Station, extending to Crook Road.
