Description
Grains o'th' Beck Bridge is a road bridge located over Long Grain, a tributary of the River Lune. It is likely from the late 18th century and has undergone some later repairs. The bridge is constructed of rubble with squared-boulder coping stones.
Both sides of the bridge are similar in design, featuring two low segmental arches. These arches have rough voussoirs that alternate between flush and projecting. A later triangular-plan cutwater with a sloping top is positioned between the arches. The faces of the bridge include scattered throughstones and later snecked-stone infill at the ends. The parapet is slightly curved and has large coping stones laid alternately upright and flat, creating a slightly embattled appearance.
