Description

The walls, steps, piers, railings, and gates located to the south and west of the Church of All Saints date from the 18th century, with 19th-century gates, overthrow, and railings. The structure features coursed sandstone rubble walls topped with roughly-dressed coping, as well as ashlar piers and steps. The gates, overthrow, and railings are made of wrought and cast iron.

A low wall with gabled coping surrounds the churchyard on the south and west sides, with wide entrances at the south-west and south-east, a narrow entrance immediately to the east of the south-west entrance, and another narrow entrance at the north-east.

The steps leading up to the wide entrance are flanked by tall, square, panelled piers that have moulded plinths, cornices, and tall pyramid finials on moulded feet. The gates are designed in a Gothic style, featuring fleur-de-lys heads on the principals and dog-bars, along with a lattice top band. The serpentine overthrow is decorated with twisted leaf motifs and has a raised centre topped with a cross finial.

There are two short flights of side steps to the right, accompanied by plain iron railings and a handrail, leading to the narrow entrance. The south-west entrance is marked by tooled square piers with pyramidal coping and fleur-de-lys headed gates.
