Description
This road bridge over the railway was built in 1848 for the Great North of England Railway. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone in diminishing courses, featuring ashlar dressings and a parapet made of large blocks. The bridge has a skew plan and is supported by coped buttresses that hold up a wide segmental arch with projecting stepped voussoirs. A band at road-bed level continues around shallow end pilasters that rise to rectangular piers. The long parapet has a low-curved coping.
