Description
The gate piers, gates, overthrow, and stile located 25 metres northwest of the Church of St. Brandon are notable features from different periods. The gate piers date from the early 18th century, while the stile is from the 19th century, the overthrow from the mid-19th century, and the gates from the early 20th century. The piers and stile are made of dressed sandstone, the overthrow is made of iron, and the gates are wooden.
The pair of tall, square piers have low plinths and entablatures with deep cornices. They feature added ogee caps on chamfered bases, topped with ball finials, although the finial on the right pier is missing. The large stile has five steps on both sides of the opening in the churchyard wall and is flanked by curving side walls with gabled coping. The arched overthrow, which has simple scrollwork, supports a spherical glass lamp. The gates consist of two leaves with barley-sugar bars. The flanking churchyard wall is not considered of special interest.
