Description

The white tomb, located approximately 40 metres northeast of the Church of All Saints, is a chest tomb dating from around 1811. It commemorates Thomas White of Woodlands and members of his family, with inscriptions extending to 1829. The tomb is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features plain corner pilasters and a moulded top. The inscription is well-cut. Thomas White was recognized with numerous gold medals by the Society of Arts and Sciences for his achievements in establishing plantations on the former Lanchester Common.
