Description

The outbuildings north of Fir Tree Grange are a servants' wing that has been converted into a cottage, garage, and storage rooms. They date from the early 19th century, possibly incorporating earlier materials. The structure is built from sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a pantiled roof with stone gable copings. It has two storeys and six bays. The third bay contains tall, elliptical-headed boarded vehicle doors, while the fourth bay has a flat stone lintel over a renewed door. The windows have similar lintels and projecting stone sills, with most featuring renewed sashes with glazing bars. There are three high buttresses with coped setbacks that separate the four right bays. The low-pitched roof is topped with corniced stone chimneys at both ends and between the second and third bays. This building is included for its group value.
