Description
The war memorial, located 40 metres west of the Church of St. Edmund, is a First World War memorial built in 1920. It is made of sandstone and features green slate plaques. The structure has a square-plan pedestal that rests on a double-chamfered, stepped base. This pedestal supports a low octagonal section with a brattished top, corner broaches, and a raised central shield. Above this, there is a tapering octagonal shaft that also has a brattished cap and is topped with a shaped cross.
The front plaque, set into the pedestal, lists the names of the victims of the First and Second World Wars. A smaller plaque at the rear, which faces the church, bears the inscription: "PASS NOT THIS STONE IN SORROW BUT IN PRIDE, AND MAY YOU LIVE AS NOBLY AS THEY DIED. LORD GRANT THEM ETERNAL LIFE."
