Description
Shute House is a house that was previously the service wing to the Rectory. It dates from the early 19th century and has undergone alterations in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of pebble-dashed brick and features concrete-tiled roofs with rendered brick chimneys. It is located next to the left side of the Rectory, with a lower entrance block attached across the front. Barrington Lodge is situated at a right angle to the left.
The one-storey entrance block has three bays and includes a central replaced six-panel door with a radial fanlight set in a recessed round-arched wall panel. To the left, there is a replaced tripartite window, and to the right, a 12-pane sash window. Above, there are two small, blind attic windows. The roof is low-pitched and hipped.
At the rear, the two-storey main block has three bays with a central replaced tripartite window and flanking 12-pane sash windows on both storeys. The roof is low-pitched and hipped to the left, featuring two ridge chimneys. The house is included for its group value.
