Description
The ice house located approximately 100 metres northeast of Elemore Hall is a structure likely dating from the 18th century. It has been adapted as an air raid shelter during World War II. The building is constructed of brick, featuring ashlar and concrete dressings, and is covered by an earth mound. It has a round shape with a diameter of about 3 metres. The entrance passage has been demolished, and the doorway features a broken ashlar lintel with brick jambs; the upper part of the doorway is blocked with a concrete slab. The brick domed roof is visible above the lintel where the earth has eroded. Inside, there is a drop of approximately 2 metres to the level of the fill, leading to the brick dome.
