Description
The guide post in front of No. 19 on Pittington Front Street is likely from the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a tapered round design, standing approximately 3.5 metres high. The top of the post has a moulding and an onion-shaped finial. There are two indicator plates attached to the post, each with a straight top edge and a curved lower edge. The plates display the names "TO DURHAM & RAINTON" and "TO HIGH PITTINGTON & LITTLETOWN" in low relief and are secured to the post with square-headed bolts. This guide post is a notable feature in the streetscape.
