Description

A barn and loose box, likely dating from the mid-18th century, stands 20 metres north of Lane House. The building is constructed from sandstone rubble with quoins and ashlar dressings, and has a pantiled roof with a stone ridge. It is a 2-storey, 4-bay barn with a single-storey, 2-bay loose box attached to the left. The barn’s yard-facing elevation features two boarded Dutch doors under old wood lintels in the second and fourth bays. It has small square windows in the first and fourth bays. A blocked loft door is situated to the left, alongside a square opening at eaves, and vent slits are found in the first floor. The loose box has flat stone lintels over a boarded door on the right and a square window on the left. A Dutch door and a loft opening are present in the rear wall of the barn. The gable peaks have rough coping formed by courses of rubble.
