Description

This is a row of three houses, originally designed as five, located in Brancepeth Village. Dating from the mid to late 18th century, with mainly 19th-century windows, the houses were later subdivided. They are constructed of rubble with a pebble-dashed finish, and have pantiled roofs, although the tiles have been renewed except for those on numbers 8 and 9. The chimney stacks have been rebuilt in brick.

The houses are two storeys high, with each house originally spanning two bays. Numbers 5 and 6 form a single house on the left, number 7 is in the centre, and numbers 8 and 9 form a single house on the right. Number 7 has a central entrance with a six-panel door and overlight. The other houses have replacement doors, with numbers 5 and 6 featuring doors with margined overlights, and numbers 8 and 9 incorporating a central pair of 20th-century doorways. Recessed boot scrapers are located centrally and on the right side of the row. The window openings originally featured flush stone lintels and projecting sills, although numbers 5 and 6 now have renewed concrete lintels and sills. Most windows are 16-pane sashes, although some have been replaced, and number 8 has late 20th-century casement windows. The roofs are steeply pitched and have transverse ridge stacks positioned above the junction of each house. Later 20th-century additions to the rear of the properties are not of architectural interest. Numbers 8 and 9 are included in the listing due to their group value, as numbers 1 to 12 form a continuous row.
