Description
West Broom House, formerly known as the Black Swan Inn, is a house dating from the early 18th century and consists of three separate builds. It has been restored and enlarged at the rear around 1980. The structure is made of coursed rubble and features renewed pantiled roofs along with rebuilt brick chimneys. The house is two stories high with an attached single-storey wing and a rebuilt end section on the right. It has flush alternate quoins and altered openings, including a glazed door to the right and various replaced sash windows. The roof is steeply pitched with end chimneys, and the gables have roughly-dressed, reversed crowsteps. The lower wing also has similar replaced windows. The roof of the end section is hipped to the right, while the rear additions are not of special interest.
