Description
The New Brancepeth War Memorial is approximately 6.5 meters tall and is located in front of New Brancepeth Village Hall, which was formerly the Miners’ Institute and is not listed. The memorial is made of polished red granite and features a two-stage square base. From this base rises a central pier, with a column at each corner. These columns support a pedimented and pinnacled top of the pier, which is topped by a domed drum that holds a draped urn.
The names of those commemorated are inscribed on the faces of the central pier. At the base of the pier, the inscription reads: "ERECTED TO THE MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 BELONGING TO NEW BRANCEPETH," with the letters incised and gilded. Additionally, there is an inscription for the Second World War in black lettering, which states: "ALSO IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL IN THE WORLD WAR 1939-1945," with the names of the commemorated listed below on the upper stage of the base.
