HUNSTANWORTH B6306 NY 94 NE (South side, off) 5/56 Buckshott Farmhouse and byres adjoining

GV II

Farmhouse and byres. Probably early C17 with additions. Thin courses of sandstone and limestone rubble with massive millstone grit quoins; ashlar dressings; stone-flagged roofs. 2-storey, 2-bay older part. Lower 2-storey, 4-bay byre on right with one-storey, 3-bay extension.

First build has 2 wide ground-floor C20 windows with concrete sills and lintels, and 2 square first-floor windows with flat stone lintels and thin stone sills. Chamfered square-headed blocked door in left addition otherwise obscured by left wing; end chimneys. Right byre has partly-glazed boarded door at left, with large irregular-block jambs and flat stone lintel; ground floor partly obscured by C20 additions; 3 small square first-floor openings. Rear of older part has very irregular plinth and quoins and is battered to one metre below eaves; thinner wall set into this. Interior not inspected but blocked door reported in former return gable wall.

Barn and one-storey addition included for group value.
