Description
The Chapel of St Mary Magdalene is a historic hospital chapel founded in the 13th century. It features a 14th-century east window that was incorporated during the 15th-century rebuilding of the chapel. The structure is built from coursed squared sandstone and is currently roofless, with a rectangular plan consisting of one storey and two bays. Massive buttresses flank the blank west front, while the east window is designed as a two-centred arch, although its tracery has been lost. A dripmould is present above the east window and the round-headed north door, while the south door has been blocked. Inside, there is a small aumbry located high on the south wall at the east end. The chapel is also recognized as a scheduled ancient monument.
