Description
The Three Tuns Hotel is a circa 1840 building, originally listed as the Three Tuns Inn. Constructed of coursed squared sandstone, with a right extension in rubble, the building features quoins and ashlar dressings. The main block has a Welsh slate roof, while the extension has a stone flag roof, both with stone gable copings.
The hotel consists of a two-storey, four-bay main block and a two-storey, one-bay extension. A 20th-century studded and boarded door, sheltered by a gabled hood with a five-pane overlight, is centrally positioned in the third bay. Sixteen-pane sash windows with flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills are present in the remaining bays, with the exception of the first-floor window on the left and within the extension, which incorporates 20th-century three-light windows with glazing bars, wood mullions, and transoms. Three boarded stone chimneys are located on the main roof, at the ends and between the first and second bays, with a taller, similar chimney on the right of the extension. A 20th-century rear extension is not considered to be of historical interest.
