Description
The Lord Nelson House is a Georgian house that was once an inn, and it is attached on one side. The walls are roughcast rendered and painted, featuring raised rendered quoins and window surrounds. The roof is slate with brick end stacks. The building has three storeys and is adorned with sash windows that have channelled architraves and voussoirs, all with 6/2 panes. The second floor has a two-window range, while the first floor has three windows. There is a late 19th-century flat-roofed extension covering the entire ground floor, which includes two paired windows and a panelled door, all with multipane upper lights, set within a framework of narrow panelled pilasters and fascia. Attached to the right is a former separate cottage range that is smaller in size, has two storeys, a hipped pantile roof, and retains some 12-pane sashes. The main house is also attached at the rear to a former warehouse range.
